Great Blue Heron--Any Port In A Storm
Copyright © 2004 by Bill Scifres

Artists tell us that parlaying cold air temperature with a blanket of snow creates an illusion known as  "blue sheen." This great blue heron left the shallow waters of White River (north of Indianapolis) to try a frigid hunt for small rodents on the shore. The great blue characteristically is a shallow water hunter for small fish and aquatic life . . . But when ice covers the shallows the great blue tries shoreline hunting--any port in a storm.
